Mac OS X versus Longhorn

Matthew C. Smith's personal blog noted last week that "Apple has changed their homepage to a black design to celebrate the countdown of their next operating system: Tiger. Hot stuff! The thing I'm most excited about is the new handling of files... moving away from the tired file and folder metaphor, Apple is the first to offer a metadata based file structure, beating Microsoft's next Windows version (Longhorn) to the punch."
